These internships are negotiated, advertised and managed by the Faculty of Law and developed via a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the organisation concerned. Students will be required to apply to the Faculty and meet a set of selection criteria which has been negotiated between the Faculty and the organisation involved. The application process may also involve an interview with the Director International, International Programs Officer and/or other appropriate members of staff.

Human rights student placement program

The Program is run within existing human rights courses. As part of the course, a number of students are placed with a human rights body for one day a week over a ten-week period. The Program consists of 50% of the assessment for the course, comprising assessment by the external supervisor (20%) and an essay of 2000 words (30%).

Do I get course credit for completing this Internship?
Not automatically, however you may choose to do the research subject (LAW4173, LAW4174 or LAW4214). This is the equivalent of one unit and requires you to write a research paper on a topic linked to your internship. You must locate your own supervisor for this.
