Resume and Cover Letter Feedback

Employment and Career Development offers FIVE ways in which students and recent graduates can receive feedback and assistance with their resume and cover letter.

For you to gain the maximum benefit from using these services, we highly recommend you follow the order outlined below.

1. Seminars

Attendance at seminars is the first step towards developing effective job application documents. Register today by clicking on the seminar title.

  • Job Seeker Seminars Receive practical advice on finding and applying successfully for work.
  • Postgraduate Careers Seminars Delivered by Employment and Career Development staff in collaboration with Monash Postgraduate Association (MPA) and the Monash Research Graduate School (MRGS)

2. Online Resources

The following range of online self-help resources has been developed to help you create quality job applications. These materials are your toolkit for application success!

4. Drop-in Service

A drop-in service is available to check your resume or cover letter. There is no need to make an appointment!

Prior to using this service you should have attended Job Seeker Seminars and/or used the resources listed on this page.

Bring a printed copy of your resume or cover letter. Careers Education Consultants will be able to check one document per student during busy periods.

5. E-mail Feedback

Submit your resume or cover letter to an Employment and Career Development Consultant for feedback by email.

Compare your documents against the checklists below:

Your document will be reviewed against a multi-point checklist and the feedback will be returned to you via email.

Instructions:

When emailing your document:

  • Use your Monash University student e-mail address
  • Type in the body of your e-mail the following details
    • First name and family name
    • Monash student ID number
    • Monash campus
    • Monash faculty
    • Current course name
    • Current year level
    • Purpose of your resume (Eg. Applying for …)
  • Attach your document as a word file
  • Email to resumes@careers.monash.edu.au

Conditions:

We aim to provide feedback within three Monash working days. During busy times this may extend to five days. You can only submit up to two documents per semester. If you email does not comply with these conditions or instructions it may delay you receiving feedback.
