Campus Recruitment - Final Year StudentsEmployers seek various qualities in graduates - specific qualifications and abilities, experience (sometimes), as well as generic skills and positive personal attributes. They look for well-rounded individuals, so, aside from achieving well in your degree, it is important that you hone employability skills such as teamwork and communication, perhaps through a combination of structured training, extra-curricular and personal development activities like volunteering or part-time work. Get ready! The next major campus recruitment round for graduate employment begins in February 2008 and the application period for many graduate jobs commencing in 2009 will be March-April-May (with some disciplines closing earlier than others). Graduate recruitment application and selection processes can be quite rigorous and given that the recruitment round occurs at a time when you will also be settling into your senior year of study, being prepared will help you perform well. Knowing how to conduct an efficient job search, create quality applications that reflect employers' selection criteria, and present well at interviews will be crucial. If you will be a final year student in 2008, prepare early for the major campus recruitment round by taking advantage of the many tailored services and programs provided by Monash University Employment and Career Development.
